Shots fired in Walmart lot; suspect surrenders

A man who barricaded himself in a van in the parking lot of a Springdale Walmart has surrendered to police, KFSM, Ch. 5, reports.

The station reports that the suspect, Rainbow Kilo Rasphoumy, pulled a gun on police responding to a suspicious person call at the store. Police fired "five or six rounds" at Rasphoumy before he barricaded himself in the van, the station reports.

A S.W.A.T. team, Springdale police and fire crews staged a response around 8 a.m. He surrendered around 9:15 a.m.

UPDATE: KNWA in Fayetteville reports that the gun turned out to be a toy, adding that at one point Rasphoumy brandished "an object similar to a flute," and that after Rasphoumy surrendered, cops found three parakeets, three chickens and two ducks inside the van.
