Cathi Compton has just begun a Facebook page for her race for the seat being vacated by the retiring Judge Collins Kilgore. She's been a member of the attorney general's staff and made a race for circuit judge in 2008.
Yesterday, Little Rock lawyer Mike Reif announced for the seat.

Today Assistant Attorney General Cathi Compton announced her candidacy for Circuit Judge, 13th Division. The position covers Pulaski and Perry Counties and is open due to Judge Collins Kilgore’s decision to not seek reelection.
“I’m running for judge to help every day Arkansans resolve the many complex issues that come before the court. I will use my diverse legal experience to protect our families and community by always ruling in a fair and impartial manner. Everyone who appears before me will receive thoughtful consideration and justice will be swift and decisive,” said Compton.
Cathleen V. ("Cathi") Compton has been a practicing attorney for almost thirty years, receiving both her undergraduate degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas. For twenty-four years Cathi was in private practice garnering experience in complex litigation, both civil and criminal. Cathi has practiced extensively in both state and federal court.
Cathi has prior experience as a judge having served as a Special Judge many times in Circuit Court. Cathi has served as Special Justice and Special Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court
In 2009 Cathi closed her private practice and went to work for the Arkansas Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division.
“I have experience in all aspects of the courtroom. In private practice I served as an advocate for my clients in a variety of cases,” said Compton. “As Assistant Attorney General I’ve served as prosecutor, aggressively going after unscrupulous individuals and companies who attempt to defraud Arkansas consumers. Finally, I’ve sat on the bench both in circuit court and on the State Supreme Court as a Special Judge. This diverse experience makes me the most qualified to serve as Circuit Judge.”
Cathi is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (Past president, Arkansas chapter), the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. She is also a member of the Union County, Pulaski County, and Arkansas Bar Associations, as well as the Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers.
Cathi is married and the proud mother of two daughters.
