Doc Harper writes for Sporting Life Arkansas on just about every angle for and against a football matchup between the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and Arkansas State University Red Wolves, an issue on the fringes of the 2013 Legislative Train Wreck.
I've been down this road a few times since 1973. To recap my thinking:
1. Of course the Hogs should play A State instead of Rhode Island School for Mines or whatever directional school is the chittlin' du jour of the early season Hog schedule.
2. Of course the Hogs would never deign to play ASU unless mandated by the legislature.
3. Of course the legislature should stay out of athletics.
4. Of course ASU will never have the clout to win a significant legislative fight (football or otherwise) when UA is on the opposite side.
In conclusion: The Hogs will never play A State in football, absent a weird bowl development. But if you want to chew on the topic, Doc Harper's article is a good place to start.
