Wow. I saw the Oscar-winning documentary "Undefeated" in the Argenta Film Series tonight and what a treat. Sure. Volunteer coach at tough, all-black Memphis high school molds men (complete with gifted tackle mentored by well-meaning, well-to-do white folks) sounds a lot like Friday Night Lights meets Blind Side. But it was great. And great too was the panel afterward moderated by Lindsey Millar with the coach, Bill Courtney, and one of his players with a key narrative arc, Chavis Daniels, who overcame an anger problem, a reform school stint and a hard background to deliver one of the movie's greatest transformational moments. Lots of insight on the making of a documentary and the making of people. Inspirational stuff. Rent this movie. It's been optioned for film treatment. Hope they all make a mint.
