A sensible Republican lives?

Everybody's talking about House Speaker Davy Carter's chat with Roby Brock.

On the one hand, it's unremarkable. He acknowledges that expansion of Medicaid might make economic sense for Arkansas. Co-pays and drug testing won't solve the budget, he also acknowledges. But he IS a Republican, so even with caveats about future costs in the great by-and-by these remarks count as remarkable. The Medicaid discussion comes about at the 6:30 mark.

At the end, Carter talks about his own political future. He again says, in response to a question about whether he'd make a statewide race, such as for governor, he said he was at a "crossroads," but would decide his future after the session.

Talking like he talked earlier is no way to make friends in a Republican primary, however.
