The Arkansas Razorbacks' drop from imagined national title contender to maligned and injury-riddled object of derision had one upside, for fans of the former directional school, which won the football game at War Memorial.

The Monroe newspaper reports on the jubilant crowd (shown in ULM photo) that greeted the returning football team early Sunday morning.

The same newspaper, by the way, devoted a lengthy article (headlined "Arkansas was outclassed in postgame, too") to Hogs' coach John L. Smith's failure to shake the hand of winning coach Todd Berry after the overtime loss.

Smith did give ULM credit in his postgame, but the media did not address the handshake snub.

"The coaches did a good job, the players played hard," Smith said. "They outplayed us and they out coached us."

And to most critics, they outclassed the Razorbacks too — the majority of them anyway.

UPDATE: Channel 4 reports Smith saying that he didn't shake hands with the opposing coach because he couldn't find him on the field amid ULM's celebration.
