Does Arkansas have an equal when it comes to fair weather fans?

The ugliness on social media last night after the Arkansas Razorbacks' overtime loss to Louisiana-Monroe was unbelievable. Did anyone have even a sympathetic word for John L. Smith, lured out of bankruptcy for $800,000 to replace the fired Bobby MF Petrino? Jeff Long, the Arkansas athletic director, was nobody's darling either on Twitter and the chat boards.

Of course there's already a popular Fire John L. Smith Facebook page. Of course the ASU partisans are claiming a narrow victory over a mediocre Memphis team (after an embarrassing season opener) justifies rebirth of the call for a UA-ASU game. After all, how could a Hog loss to the Red Wolves have been any worse?

I'll leave the Xs and Os to the talk show-calling experts who are sure they could have done better. (And made the tackles, too, presumably.)

It was beautiful day at War Memorial Stadium until the sun went down.

I hope the injured Hogs heal and prosper.

Long was still right to fire Bobby Petrino. The talk of bringing him back after a year in the wilderness is wasted breath.

It is a game.

Smith would be advised to rent rather than own in Fayetteville.
