Another report from LR's mean streets, by LRPD Sgt. Cassandra Davis, on the arrest of Leo Darrough Jr., 30:
On 09/04/2012, Darrough was identified as the suspect who car-jacked one victim, and attempted to car-jack two other victims in the area of 17th & Woodrow / Brown. Darrough also was thrown off a CAT Bus after creating a disturbance. Darrough fired a shot after exiting the bus.
Today at approximately 4:45 officers were in the area of 5001 W. 65th Street searching for Mr. Darrough when shots were heard. Officers in the area observed Mr. Darrough in the wooded area nearby as he was firing at officers. Officers took cover while the shots were being fired. Officers located Mr. Darrough in the wooded area and used a tazer to take him into custody after it appeared to officers that Mr. Darrough was out of bullets since he was dry firing the weapon.
Mr. Darrough was transported to an area hospital to be examine for possible drug usage. Mr. Darrough will likely face Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Attempted Capital Murder Charges.
AND IN OTHER CRIME NEWS: State parole board recommends (Stephens Media) that convicted killer from North Little Rock get a commutation from Gov. Mike Beebe. That would be a huge departure from Beebe's practices thus far.
