Parker Dozhier, of Hot Springs, died on Monday. He was 70 according to an obituary in the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record. Dozhier was a bait shop owner and sometime trapper who was accused of doing anti-Clinton dirty work during the Whitewater investigation. A former girlfriend said that Dozhier and other conservative activists had paid money to David Hale, Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s key witness in Starr’s pursuit of President Bill Clinton. Dozhier allegedly got money from billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife to help find information harmful to Clinton. Dozhier allegedly used some of this money to support Hale, who allegedly provided information that Dozhier passed along to Scaife and his right-wing magazine, The American Spectator. Both Dozhier and Hale denied that Dozhier gave Hale money. Dozhier admitted that he received $35,000 from the American Spectator to gather anti-Clinton information.

In July, Dozhier published a novel, “Pelts: Murder and Mayhem in the Fur Trade.”
