Hamilton out of city board race

Lynn Hamilton, who filed as a candidate against incumbent Gene Fortson for the at-large Position 9 seat on the City Board of Directors, has withdrawn his name from the race.

"With two other challengers splitting the vote, there was no realistic opportunity for me to win," Hamilton, who is vice president of operations for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, wrote the Times.

The two challengers are former Judge Willard Proctor, who carries a lot of baggage as a judge who was removed from the Pulaski County Circuit Court bench in January 2010 for ethics violations, and Glen Schwartz, who is also running for the state Senate on a platform of legalizing marijuana.
