The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is moving forward with the process of finding a new agency director to succeed Loren Hitchchock, who is planning to retire.
15 applicants have been determined to meet qualifications for the job. According to an e-mail written on behalf of Commission Chairman Steve Cook, each commissioner is being asked to pick seven for future consideration. They are supposed to review full applications for each and make their recommendations by Aug. 6 for a winnowing of the field to candidates for interviews.
Here's a list of the 15, with current positions. Seven are current or former Game and Fish employees.
The 15 names were produced by the agency's Human Resources Division from 130 initial applicants.
