Women in the Arkansas General Assembly

Start your morning with a new documentary on the history of women in the Arkansas legislature, the first appointed in 1922. The total was at 105 at the making of this video. Too bad it hasn't been far higher. When men start claiming to represent women's interests at the Capitol, it is sometimes damaging to their health.

The documentary is the work of Lindsley Smith of Fayetteville, herself a former state legislator, who's been working on a project about women legislators since 2006. It's sponsored by the Women's Giving Circle and the Diane D. Blair Center of Southern Politics and Society.
