Hot enough for you? How hot was it? Record 101 in LR is how hot. Use the open line to complain. Brian Chilson (above) still managed to get outdoors and grab some video of balloon races, moved from War Memorial Park to Maumelle on account of wind conditions
* ARKANSAS STATE HAS PSYCHIC ENERGY: A friend at ASU in Jonesboro sends along a small chuckle discovered on the inter-webs. ASU has set up a webpage (perhaps cut and pasted from a supplier of such things) to encourage giving by alumni. It comes complete with photos and testimonials, such as one from a small town pediatrician "Patricia Brown." Note after her story about a gift to ASU the later disclaimer:
*Please note: The name and image above is representative of a typical donor and may or may not be an actual donor to our organization.
Some jaded skeptics at ASU are pretty sure that photo isn't pediatrician Patricia Brown or an ASU giver. To them, it looks a whole lot more like somebody they've seen in pop-up web ads for "world class psychic Norah."
* YOUR $22 MILLION IN ACTION: Jimmy Parks has taken on the task of putting Little Rock Technology Park Authority board meetings on video, generally a vivid illustration of condescension to the rabble by the Chamber of Commerce thinking that controls the agency and the $22 million in tax money they are chomping to spend on tearing down an inner city neighborhood. Parks has posted tons. His postings come in three segments. He recommends the public comment period at the last board meeting — prior to Board chair Mary Good's walkback of her put-down of City Board efforts to slow down the bulldozers. He also recommends a segment in which LR C of C boss Jay Chesshir "patronizes" UAMS Public Health students who studied the neighborhood and also dug up some inconvenient facts about a much-touted Virginia research park, first that Virginia didn't bulldoze residential neighborhoods.
* ARKANSAS GOP WHERE ARE YOU?: I noticed this morning that the Arkansas Republican Party website wasn't functioning on my computer. Hitting the website url took me to a page that indicated that "arkansasgop.org expired on 06/07/2012 and is pending renewal or deletion." Still out of service this evening on my computer and other of my home Internet devices. Has my wireless router been jammed by GOP tricksters? I've tried multiple browsers. Any geniuses with an explanation? Others say website working for them. MONDAY MORNING UPDATE: It's baaack.
