The Republican Party of Arkansas is having legislative candidate training today. What better place than the offices of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, whose corporate agenda fits perfectly with that of the GOP. The GOP doesn't get a taxpayer subsidy yet, but perhaps it can pick up some tips on that from Jay Chesshir.

I wonder if a session will be held on civility, moderated (now there's a paradoxical word) by Jon Hubbard?

Who's providing that complimentary lunch listed on the meeting agenda? (UPDATE: Dutch treat, I'm now informed. What? A Republican agenda says there will be a free lunch and it turns out not to be true? Whoddathunkit?)

A far more interesting question is what sort of legislative materials, such as coming templates for the GOP agenda, are being provided. Do they bear the stamp, indelible or by obvious emulation, of the American Legislative Exchange Council. Our CofC spycam is in operation from high atop Arkansas Times Square for sightings of Rovian bagmen and vote suppressors, NRA gun deliveries and welcoming gift baskets from the Koch Bros.' AFP-Oelke Branch affiliate.

UPDATE: Rep. John Burris informs me about 50 candidates are on hand, not including Mr. Civility. He says no planned bills are being distributed and ALEC had no role in training materials. He did politely but firmly decline to provide me with copies, however.
