Speak now, it's Saturday night

The line is open. In closing:

* CAN'T SAY IT; DON'T LEGISLATE IT: The Michigan ACLU has put up a Facebook page to join a protest of the Michigan legislature's attack on both abortion rights, in a draconian piece of legislation, and in shutting up female legislators who said the word "vagina" in floor debate.

* DELEGATES: Delegate selection is underway for the national presidential nominating conventions. At last report, no delegate had shown up seeking an Arkansas Democratic delegation seat to represent John Wolfe, the oddball protest candidate who drew a sizable protest vote in the primary. The party has said he didn't comply with delegate selection rules and wouldn't be given seats in any case but if nobody showed up in the first place to claim a seat, might that affect his publicity-seeking lawsuit? On the Republican side, I'll be watching if any of the secretary of state's staff make the delegation. Remember Mark Martin had once promised his office would stay out of partisan politics, but that promise got Etch-a-sketched into applying to just a handful of office employees in the election division.

* PACKING: A $100 contribution to the re-election campaign of Rep. Nate Bell of Mena (the Republican who won early fame in reaching for a — bogus— Hitler quote to demean others) got you a free concealed carry permit class today. Feel safer?
