The cleanup of the state Veterans Affairs Department continues. I understand the Legislative Council signed off today on a new contract with a physician, Dr. Robert Kerr, to be medical director at the Vets Home in Little Rock beginning July 1.

You'll recall that the previous physician, Lee Nayles, was non-renewed by new VA director Cissy Rucker. Rucker was appointed by Gov. Mike Beebe after numerous problems came to light in operation of the Vets Home in Little Rock, including overcharges to vets living there.

Here's more on Kerr's background. Here's his contract. He'll be paid $42,000 a year.
