The National Park Service (NPS) today issued a one-year Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) to Vapor Valley Spirits Inc., to use portions of the Superior Bathhouse for special events and retail sales.

Vapor Valley Spirits is currently in negotiations with the NPS to sign a long-term lease for the historic building and establish a craft micro-brewery utilizing the thermal spring water as the primary ingredient.

“The Authorization we signed today allows Vapor Valley Spirits, Inc. to conduct retail operations, hold special events and to promote the future brewery,” said Josie Fernandez, superintendent of Hot Springs National Park. “We are very excited about this new step moving forward in the renaissance of Bathhouse Row.”

According to Rose Schweikhart Cranson, company president, Vapor Valley’s first official event is a collaborative project with the Hot Springs Music Festival on Saturday, June 9.

The Progressive Concert on Bathhouse Row is a series of mini-concerts which start at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Ozark Bathhouse and moves north along Bathhouse Row, culminating at the Superior Bathhouse at about 8:50 p.m. for an evening of live music and socializing.

Craft beers, Nom Noms ice cream bars, and Vapor Valley Spirits’ own draught root beer will be offered for sale and 100% of proceeds will go to the Hot Springs Music Festival. The concert is free.

According to Cranson, the craft micro-brewery is projected to open in the Spring of 2013.
