This weekend, I realized, I felt out of sync because something's wrong with the seasons.

It was hot.

I was eating Arkansas tomatoes and Arkansas peaches and Arkansas blackberries and all were worthy of the name. This normally is not a pursuit for May, but June and beyond.

Something's wrong — though if eating tomatoes, peaches and blackberries is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Now more on upsets in the great seasonal rhythms.

Courtesy of Kat Robinson and her Tie Dye Travels blog, a report that there's a new record for the first mess of purple hull peas near Emerson. A good week earlier than the previous record for Jerry Freppon, who's ceremonially eaten his first mess in preparation for the Purple Hull Pea Festival.
