Jermain Taylor named in assault complaint

Stephens Media reports here on an assault complaint made against boxer Jermain Taylor, who so far hasn't been reachable for comment. A woman said they'd had an altercation Friday night at a motel where they'd met to have sex for money. After her arrest on a drug charge (related to a prescription drug and marijuana), she alleged that Taylor had raped her. The Maumelle police report summary follows. A police spokesman said he couldn't comment if detectives had spoken with Taylor yet. No charges have been filed against him.

For Immediate Release:

On 5/18/12 at approximately 9:24 P.m. Maumelle Police responded to a call for service at America’s Best Value hotel located at 14325 Frontier Drive in Maumelle. This call related to a reported disturbance between a male and a female. Upon arrival the officers made contact with a 27 year old black female who reported and showed signs of an injured ankle. The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of the female for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The female claimed that she sustained the injury to her ankle during a verbal altercation with Jermaine Taylor. She alleged that she had arrived at the hotel for the purpose of having sex with Taylor in exchange for money and that they began arguing. She alleged that she had become frightened during this argument, fled the hotel room, and in doing so had fallen down a flight of stairs which resulted in an injury to her ankle. She was later transported to Baptist Medical Center to treat the injury. Once at the hospital, she claimed that she was raped by Mr. Taylor.

The investigation regarding the night of the 18th is ongoing.
