Lockerbie bomber dies in Libya

The Libyan who was the only man convicted in the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am plane over Lockerbie, Scotland, has died, news agencies are reporting. His death comes nearly three years after his release in August 2009 on compassionate grounds because it was said cancer left him with only months to live.

A Little Rock resident, Sandy Phillips, 27, was among the 270 victims of the bombing.
