NO MORE PROFITS FOR ALEC: Mars, maker of Skittles, wont be helping ALEC, maker of Stand Your Ground laws, any more.

More corporate backers are forsaking the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the corporate funded conservative lobby that is the go-to source of cookie cutter legislation for right-wingers in the Arkansas Republican legislative caucus.

Coke, Pepsi, McDonald's, Kraft and Intuit had left earlier. The Gates Foundation has had some reservations, but decided to stick with a current commitment.

Now Arizona Public Service, that state's largest utility, has dumped the shills.

Also gone: Mars, the big candy company. It makes Skittles. You'll recall that a child, Trayvon Martin, armed with Skittles was gunned down by a man who might well go free thanks to one of the Stand Your Ground laws ALEC has helped push in behalf of the gun lobby.
