Busy night for the Little Rock Police Department, with one man killed and another injured in a shooting at Geyer and Baseline, and another man telling police he was shot while driving on Roosevelt Road.
An incident report on the Southwest Little Rock incident says that around 1:15 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a call about a shooting at a gas station at the corner of Baseline and Geyer Springs Rd. When they arrived, they found a Chevrolet truck engulfed in flames and smoke. Officers pulled the driver, James Hornes, from the cab, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, Stephen Taylor, was found nearby, shot four times. Taylor told police that two or three Latino men in a maroon pickup had followed them to the location and then started shooting. Taylor is being treated for what police say are non-life-threatening injuries. No word on how the truck wound up ablaze.
In the incident on Roosevelt, Michael McGonigal called police just before 11 p.m. last night, saying that he'd been shot by two men as he was driving past the Auto Zone on East Roosevelt Rd. McGonigal, who was hit twice in the stomach and once in his right thigh, could only describe the men as two black males, one of whom was wearing a white bandana and holding something silver. He was later transported to UAMS for treatment. There are no suspects at this time.
