A new Talk Business/Hendrix College poll of 759 likely Arkansas voters finds that President Obama's approval ratings have mostly held steady in the state since last September, with almost three-quarters of Democrats approving of his job performance, while large majorities of Independents and Republicans disapprove of his job performance.
The poll, conducted on March 26, found that 32 percent of Arkansans approve of the way Obama is handling the job of president, 63.5 percent disapprove, and 4.5 percent say they don't know. The margin of error in the poll is plus/minus 3.6 percent. Obama's overall approval rating in the state during the last Talk Business/Hendrix poll, taken in September 2011, was 31.5 percent.
72 percent of Democrats approve of Obama’s job performance while 93 percent of Republican voters disapprove, and 74 percent of Independents give him similar failing marks. If the presidential race was held today between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, the poll found that 56.5 percent would go for Romney, 33 percent would vote for Obama, and the remainder were undecided.
