A Fayetteville police officer was shot after a six-hour standoff that went from Saturday night to the wee hours of Sunday morning. According to University of Arkansas police, they attempted to pull over Sergio Andrade, 50, for a traffic violation on Razorback Road. Andrade ran to his apartment, which was in the nearby Bedford Loop complex, initiating the standoff. At one point, Andrade stepped onto the landing and fired shots at the police, striking one of the officers just above the ankle.

Andrade eventually surrendered and is being charged with six counts of Attempted Capital Murder, two counts of Aggravated assault, one count of 1st degree Battery and one count of Terroristic Act. The officer is hospitalized in stable condition.
