Kent Walker, a Little Rock lawyer, has resigned as chairman of the Pulaski County Election Commission. He's part of the Democratic majority on the commission. Several people said they understood he resigned because he's been doing work as a lawyer for a group of property owners in the Lake Maumelle watershed who've generally opposed stronger land use rules for the watershed. Those rules are now before the Quorum Court and have already surfaced as an issue in election contests. His resignation letter is here and it doesn't mention politics
The Pulaski County Democratic Committee will name a replacement for Walker. He resigned effective Jan. 15. I have a call out to Kirk Bradshaw, the committee chair. It's possible he might take the position.
UPDATE: Walker says his resignation had nothing to do with his work in the watershed. He said he simply didn't have time to balance his legal work with demands of the commission work.
