It wasn't such a bad thing that Rick Santorum was soundly defeated in a re-election bid in Pennsylvania for U.S. Senate. He just went on to score big bucks working for corporate interests he'd curried favor with as a member of the Senate.
It's of interest because Santorum, as presidential candidate, can be counted on for the usual lip service to good government and his highly religious ethos. And his infection with the lobby culture is particularly strong. But has there been a failed politician, Republican or Democrat, who DID NOT go after consulting lucre after leaving Congress? Think the last two defeated U.S. Senators from Arkansas.
