The State Police said today that they have new information in seeking a suspect in the hit-and-run death of Lakevia Jiles, 35, early Christmas Eve on Interstate 30 near Geyer Springs.
Investigators believe Jiles, last seen alive in North Little Rock, was struck by a 2002-2008 GMC or Chevrolet that might have extensive driver side damage and a missing driver side rear view mirror.
Police are looking for anyone who may have seen Jiles in the hours leading up to her death or saw the vehicle near where the body was found early Saturday morning.
STATE POLICE RELEASE
(LITTLE ROCK) - New leads have developed in the Arkansas State Police investigation into the death of Lakevia Jiles (aka Lakevia Britt).
State Troopers discovered the body of Jiles about 2:30 AM Saturday morning (December 24th) in southwest Little Rock along the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near the Geyer Springs exit.
Jiles, a black female, 35 years of age, was last known to reside at a North Little Rock address and is described as 5’-11” tall, weighing 135 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. A copy of a recent photograph of Jiles is attached to this news release.
Forensic examination of vehicle debris discovered along the highway has provided evidence to Special Agents of the State Police Criminal Investigation Division to suspect Jiles was hit by a 2002 — 2008 GMC or Chevrolet vehicle which may have extensive left side (driver side) damage and the left side mirror missing.
Anyone who may have seen Jiles in the hours leading up to her death or saw a vehicle early Saturday morning matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the vicinity where the body was discovered is asked to contact the Arkansas State Police by calling (501) 618-8100.
