The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported this morning on the use of about $2.2 million the state has allocated to convert vehicles to run on natural gas.
Noted: Among those listed as having received money to convert a car to gas use was Jason Rapert of Bigelow/Conway, $5,990. The Republican state senator is a leading proponent of shale gas drilling, so it makes sense that he'd drive a truck testifying to his love of gas. He's touted the conversion program
It's also worth noting that the money to convert Rapert's truck to cheaper fuel came to Arkansas through President Obama's stimulus program. Somebody asked Rapert on his Facebook page where the money came from. He provided a link to an Arkansas Energy Office website page that explains the conversion program but does not mention the federal stimulus money as the source of the financing.
Rapert hasn't had much good to say about President Obama as a job creator.
