Labor Relations Board drops Boeing case

The National Labor Relations Board has dropped the case alleging unfair labor practice against the Boeing Corp. for locating a plant in South Carolina as retaliation against union workers in Washington. The machinists union that brought the complaint asked that it be dropped because of several favorable facets of a Boeing settlement with workers in the Northwest.

NLRB acting general counsel Lafe Soloman, an Arkansas native, announced the decision.

Mr. Solomon, who has faced heavy criticism for bringing the case, said he was delighted that it was settled, noting that 90 percent of the cases the labor brings are settled.

“This is the outcome we always preferred, and that is typical for our agency,” Mr. Solomon said in a telephone conference call with reporters.

Never fear. The Republicans have more such issues to politicize.
