Good for Secretary of State Mark Martin. He's going to be grand marshal of the Mardi Gras parade Feb. 18 in Eureka Springs. His presence is promised, too, at the "Hookers and Jokers Ball" that's part of the festivities.
Perhaps he can witness a couple signing the city's domestic partnership registry while he's in town.
Mark Martin, Arkansas’s 33rd Secretary of State has been chosen as the Grand Marshal for the annual Eureka Gras Mardi Gras Parade, which highlights a month of festivities in Eureka Springs.
The parade rolls at 2 p.m, Sat. Feb 18. This year’s theme is My-O-Mayan, and bands, floats, walking groups, Krewe of Kids, and Krewe of Barkus, will follow lead group Krewe of Krazo through the streets of downtown Eureka Springs, flinging beads, making merry, and generally having a great time in costume. All locals and visitors are encouraged to “dress out” and join in the parade.
Martin will lead the parade as Grand Marshal, and has said he will also attend the Feb. 16 Hooker and Jokers Ball, and be part of the Grand Procession at the Coronation Ball, Feb. 17
As Secretary of State, Martin serves as Chairman of the State Board of Election Commissioners and the Capitol Arts and Grounds Commission, among other things.
A professional engineer, he is a member of Engineering Ministries International, and the Association of Christian Design Professions, an active participant in the NRA and the Prairie Grove American Legion Post 146. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
