For those yearning for specifics from occupiers, Occupy Little Rock has something for you.
On its blog, it announces its intention to Occupy the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday. It will be demonstrating against the Lake Maumelle watershed zoning plan, heading to consideration by the Pulaski Quorum Court. The chamber demonstration is directed at a meeting of alumni of a chamber leadership program where County Judge Buddy Villines and Central Arkansas Water CEO Graham Rich will explain their reasons for backing the compromise plan. The meeting is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Occupy LR notes the concesssions made to Deltic Timber, the Chenal Valley developer and influential chamber member. It is the primary landowner in the watershed of the lake that is Central Arkansas's primary water supply. Occupy LR wants a better plan. From the blog:
WE CONDEMN THE ACTIONS OF DELTIC TIMBER TO COERCE PULASKI COUNTY TO TAKE A ” BAD PLAN IS BETTER THAN NO PLAN” POSITION. THEY HAVE GAMED THE SYSTEM WITH THEIR ENORMOUS WEALTH AND POWER.
STAND WITH US TUESDAY, 12/6 AT THE CHAMBER BUILDING. LET OUR COUNTY OFFICALS KNOW WE REFUSE TO ROLL OVER AND LET DELTIC HAVE ITS WAY WITH OUR WATER! WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF THEM.
