I've come into possession of a memo sent to crew members on "Mud," the Jeff Nichols movie that has just about wrapped up production in Arkansas, including in rural Arkansas, with work in Stuttgart, Dumas and other places.
The memo starts this way:
To: Those concerned
Re: Snakes, chiggers and ticks
It urges checking for ticks on getting home each day. And it counsels against texting while walking, the better to be on the lookout for snakes, especially at night. Never go down a path without a light at night, the memo says. Scratching chigger bites just make them itch worse. And so forth.
I'm sorry, but I don't have safety bulletin #31 about indigenous critters mentioned in the memo, but I can imagine a few that might turn up on the list. Ding Dong Daddies, for example.
Think Bogey and Hepburn got memos like this before filming "African Queen"?
