For some reason, the early political grist today concerns the 1st Congressional District, where Republican U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford is currently in charge.

Crawford’s name was in the Jonesboro Sun over the weekend, on the delinquent property tax list ($451.40). An office spokesman said: “There was an error in processing online payment for the property taxes. All of Congressman Crawford’s taxes have been paid in full.”

Also in the 1st: Steve Rockwell, who’s talked of running for the seat as a Democrat and who gave a populist talk July 4 at the Corning picnic, voted in the Republican presidential primary in February 2008, acording to voter records I checked in Craighead County today. He otherwise votes Democratic. I’m curious and have left a phone message.
