Only two days left until Saturday. But tonight, there's still the open line. Final words:
* ICE IS NICE: There will be an ice skating rink again this year at the River Market Pavilion for the holiday season, beginning Nov. 19. Details here.
* MAYBE SALINE COUNTY ISN'T FAR ENOUGH: Noticed this Twitter from Channel 7: "At least 29 B&E's reported in Benton in the last week. Benton PD urging people to lock their doors, watch out for their neighbors."
* SCREW THE POOR/SCREW STUDENTS: President Obama proposes to reduce required payments on student loans and otherwise ease terms on the debt, crushing to many former students. Some 50,000 in Arkansas would have more money to spend. Republicans, naturally, oppose this. The only way to stimulate the economy, Repubs say, is to cut the tax rate for corporations and millionaires. And stop protecting air and water and consumers and other living things with federal regulation.
* CANDIDE: Arkansas Tech's thespians will roll out their performance of Bernstein's operetta "Candide" Friday night at 8 p.m. in the Witherspoon Auditorium at Tech. I won't repeat all the drama that has attended drama productions at Tech. But this show — described as PG-13 — will go on this weekend and next. All the details here.
