Gov. Mike Beebe took questions on Talk Politics this morning.

He say he “may indeed” vote for Sheffield Nelson’s ballot initiative to make the gas severance tax 7 percent, similar to surrounding states, to produce money for highways and city streets.

He also said he will “probably” vote for Barack Obama next year, though the president stands no chance in Arkansas.

And, for the thousandth time, no, he has no plans for future elective office.

Does Mike Beebe have coattails? I’d guess the answer is no, particularly on Obama. But if he decided to really get active on the gas severance tax — which he said he has no plans to do — his high approval ratings might actually translate to some votes on this pure state issue.
