The Arkansas Lottery Commission voted unanimously this morning to offer its CFO job, previously held by Philip Miley, to Jerold K. Fetzer, 61, an accountant and audit partner with Miller and Co. Certified Public Accountants. Unlike Miley, Fetzer is a certified public accountant. Fetzer has accepted the job, which will pay $98,000 a year. Here's his resume. (Miley had been a licensed CPA for years, but his license had lapsed at the time he went to work for the lottery.)

From June 1980 to March 2008, Fetzer was with Alltel, where he was vice present and senior VP for finance. Commissioner Bruce Engstrom said at the meeting he believed Miley "more than capable to take care of the needs" of the Arkansas Lottery.

There were 15 to 20 applicants for the job, interim director Julie Baldridge said.

Miley left the lottery office after it was disclosed that he had not informed the office of a $100,000 penalty assessed the lottery by the IRS. He thought the IRS had made an error. The matter remains in dispute.
