A Federal Aviation Administration official tells the Democrat-Gazette's Debra Hale-Shelton in an article today that the agency will be on the lookout for the rogue pilot who drops live turkeys over the Yellville Turkey Trot festival, scheduled today and tomorrow.
Good. I hope somebody loses his pilot's license if they do it again. The fanciful description by local officials of birds gracefully gliding to ground is at stark variance with panicked birds dropping, sometimes like rocks, onto buildings, ground and other hard landings. It's cruel. It's not funny. The people in Yellville who know the turkey droppers and who don't blow the whistle are essentially accomplices to a crime, even if it's only an enhanced misdemeanor in this cruel state.
