* CHARTER SCHOOL PANEL EXPANDED: The Walton- and Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce-sponsored program Oct. 25 to further demonize conventional public schools in the name of advancing "choice" will include a voice from the Little Rock School District. I'd criticized the one-sided nature of the panel earlier. Superintendent Morris Holmes has agreed to participate, Walton lobbyist Luke Gordy tells me.
* DEATH PENALTY BACK IN PLAY: The Arkansas Supreme Court said a jury could consider the death penalty again in a retrial of Kenneth Ray Osburn for slaying a Pine Bluff teenager. He was convicted in the first trial, but sentenced to life without parole. He got his conviction overturned, but the state can seek the death penalty again.
