Taxpayers have just given Little Rock City Hall a half-a-billion dollars (less tens of millions outsourced to the Chamber of Commerce and allies). So it's always worth noting the financial acumen with which they've conducted past business.
Leslie Peacock reports this week on the previously undisclosed costs of Mayor Mark Stodola's plan to put a day center for the homeless in a former rescue mission almost to Granite Mountain.
There are code violations galore to be corrected, along with a long list of needed improvements. At least $400,000 must be spent. I'll be surprised if the final tab doesn't exceed that. But not to worry, there's now lots more where that budgeted amount came from.
