It's all about the opposition. That old cliche is inevitably recalled in this national polling on presidential politics — President Obama leads all Republicans, with Mitt Romney the closest contender. Rick Perry doesn't do so hot (Obama 52-41), apparently because of a general repudiation of his view of Social Security as a Ponzi scheme. Even Republicans, though a solid number agree with Perry, as a whole would prefer to hang onto this popular program.
