How about this. Two days through the work week after only one day of work for many of us. The line is open. But note:
* WORKING MORE FOR LESS: Corporate profits are up 22 percent in the jobless recovery as American workers put in more and more time for less. Mother Jones reports what too many already know.
* UCA PROBE: A committee appointed by the UCA Board of Trustees to review the controversial deal — now defunct — to extend food service contractor Aramark's contract for seven years in return for a $700,000 contribution to presidential house renovation agreed today to ask the Board to have the university's internal audit office review the deal. Internal audit was said to be better qualified to make the review and faculty Senate president Janet Wilson was among those who said that might be a better approach. Also, one appointed committee member, Tom Courtway, who had been general counsel at UCA, is now interim president following the buyout of Allen Meadors' contract. The Board will meet on the issue in the next few weeks.
* MURDER-SUICIDE: The State Police said today that the recent deaths in Poinsett County of Greg and Patricia Leatherwood and their son Kyle appear to be a double murder and suicide. Greg and Patricia Leatherwood's bodies were found during the investigation of a fire in their home. Their son's body was found in an apartment in Harrisburg. State Police said each victim was shot with the same handgun found next to Patricia Leatherwood.
* ACCOUNT FOR CHILDREN: The Pulaski sheriff's office said a bank account has been established to benefit the children of Justin and Candace Moody. Moody apparently killed his wife and then himself after a quarrel Saturday at their home near Cabot. The Moody Family account is at US Bank. The account number is #151802684333.
