Randy Wagner of Grubbs today claimed a $1,000,000 prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Little Rock Claim Center. He won the prize in last night’s Powerball drawing, purchasing just one $1 Powerball ticket and the $1 PowerPlay multiplier at EZ Mart 429 in Tuckerman. Had he not bought PowerPlay, the prize would have been $200,000. He won by matching all five white ball numbers drawn, but not the Powerball number. The $160 Million jackpot was not hit last night and increases to $180 Million for Saturday night’s draw.
Mr. Wagner was accompanied by his father, Buck Wagner (IN PHOTO ON LEFT). He said he arrived at work this morning unaware that he had the winning ticket. His co-workers told him about the Tuckerman winning ticket. He said he immediately called his daughter at home and caught her before she left for work, and asked her to look at his ticket and read the numbers. Then, he called the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery I WON hotline, and he said he knew by the second number that he was the big winner. He had planned to claim the prize Friday, but his co-workers pushed him out the door and sent him to Little Rock to cash in today.
When asked what he planned to do with his winnings, he said that he thought he saw a new truck on the horizon. But he made clear that his wife is an officer at Merchants and Planters Bank in Jackson County and that they are looking to multiply his winnings through wise investment. He has two children, ages 21 and 9.
This prize is the 10th time an Arkansas player has won $1 Million or more since September 28, 2009, when the first ticket was sold. The EZ Mart in Tuckerman will receive a selling bonus of $10,000 for the sale of the $1 Million ticket.
