The Arkansas-based meat production company Cargill is recalling 36 million pounds of ground turkey after a potential link was found between the meat and a strain of antibiotic-resistant salmonella. From Slate:

The tainted turkey, produced in a Cargill meat plant based in Arkansas, dated back to February and was distributed under the Honeysuckle White brand to different retailers, including chain stores such as Kroger and Safeway.

The first case of a salmonella related illness was reported in early March, but it took the Agriculture Department and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention months to narrow down the source. Even now, Cargill was not identified as the definite source of the outbreak.
