Marcus Devine, former head of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, has signed a consent administrative order with the agency after inspections revealed that his company, Poseidon Energy, was guilty of numerous pollution violations. We've reported on this issue before. Poseidon operates a saltwater disposal facility which disposes of waste and other sludge from natural gas drilling sites. According to an ADEQ spokesperson, the $14,400 penalty is the same as a previous version of the CAO, but the language in the order and agreement section is more specific about the activity that will need to cease immediately. Devine has until August 1 to submit a corrective action report.
