The sheriff's office said Kenneth Ellis, 42, of Little Rock, was killed about 8 p.m. last night when a car hit his bike at Hilaro Springs and Willow Springs Road south of Little Rock. According to the report, Ellis ran a stop sign and turned into the path of the car. The narrative of the accident follows:
On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, I responded to the intersection of Willow Springs Road and Hilaro Springs to assist Deputy Hendrix in reference to an accident with injury (vehicle versus bicycle).
Upon arrival, I made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Mr. Eugene Becker, Jr., and his girlfriend, Ms. Traci Nelson (front-seat passenger). Mr. Becker stated that he was traveling west on Willow Springs Road when he observed a bicyclist traveling south on Hilaro Springs run the stop sign and attempted to make a left turn onto Willow Springs. Mr. Becker said that he did not observe the bicyclist until he was already in the roadway and he struck the bicyclist.
Deputy Hendrix then notified me that the bicyclist was deceased and I stood by with Mr. Becker and Ms. Nelson until they could be interview by Investigations. Sergeant Marler later arrived and asked that I transport Mr. Becker to South Intake to conduct a BAC Test. Mr. Becker was then transported to South Intake and upon arrival he was read the Implied Consent Law and signed the form agreeing to take the test. Mr. Becker then provided two breath samples which both registered .000 blood alcohol content. Becker was then transported back to the accident scene and the Implied Consent Form and BAC Test results were given to Sergeant Marler.
