More dust in special House election

Investigators are looking into allegations of absentee vote fraud in the Democratic runoff for the House District 54 seat in Crittenden County, to be decided July 12.

The complaint, by a defeated Democratic candidate, will serve, at a minimum, to blow more smoke around an election that might normally seem safe in the Democratic column. Now Democratic nominee Hudson Hallum has this to contend with along with Republican John Gelan. The other major wrinkle is the independent candidacy of D'James "Two" Rogers, once a Democrat. A badly fractured vote could send another Tea Party-style Republican to Little Rock.
