Republican Rep. Eric Cantor walked out of talks on a budget compromise. Why? Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says it's because he's drawn a line in the sand on taxes. Democrats insist that subsidies to profiteering oil companies and corporate giveaways be cut back as part of a deficit solution. Republicans seemingly want nothing less than a continuation of the (utterly non-productive) lowest tax rates for the wealthy in decades. Only people who rely on the government for vital services should pay for deficit reduction; not rich people. The Three Mouseketeers in the Arkansas House delegation are undoubtedly in lockstep on this view.
