Louisiana has a well-run insurance plan for state employees. Gov. Bobby Jindal wants to privatize it, in part, apparently, to capture a big reserve it's sitting on. He's also been sitting on a study on the results of privatization (Think the Republican plan endorsed by Arkansas's Republican congressmen to kill Medicare.) The report has leaked.
Jindal disputes it, of course, but the report indicates premiums will rise, coverage will decline and the cost of doing business, to provide profit for the private operator, will rise sharply. This is what Tim Griffin, Steve Womack, Rick Crawford and John Boozman want to do to Medicare.
PS — Congress is fighting over Republican efforts to censor Democratic member mailings about the end of Medicare. Republicans earlier approved this language, before they lost a New York House seat over that issue.
