I think we're still early for the sweetest spot of the summer produce season. But ....
I'm about to try out three different versions of Arkansas-grown tomatoes — pinks from Warren (not the red shippers); some heirloom tomatoes and some early arrivals from Cabot. Plus Arkansas squash. Plus a couple of quarts of blackberries put in a cobbler with some Searcy ice cream to go on top. (Can I get a second on the motion that Angel Food is the best of Yarnell's four types of vanilla? I don't want to hear about the home-made style, even if it is the biggest seller.) Plus a Petit Jean peppered ham. Plus, I wimped out and didn't make them myself, but we bought some pocketbook rolls from Diane's, which — I'm never allowed to forget — my wife believes are superior to mine.
Some of the tomatoes, squash and blackberries (and a vase full of sunflowers) are from the nice little farmers market that Pulaski Heights Baptist is sponsoring on Kavanaugh every Saturday morning. Check it out next week. It should only get better.
