Friday frolics

The line is open. Parting shots:

* NEWS SOURCES: One of the questions on a new round of polling by Roby Brock's Talk Business and Hendrix College was about where people got most of their Arkansas legislative news. 65 percent did NOT get it from newspapers.

* POLICE SHOOTING: A Jonesboro jury is deliberating in the lawsuit over the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old by a West Memphis police officer. KAIT-TV in Jonesboro is a good speedy source for updates. UPDATE: channel 7 reports the jury has found police not liable in shooting.

* CALLING THE TEA PARTY: They broke ground on a new airport in Conway today, a $25 million project that will require 90 percent federal funding. U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin was on hand and a news release quotes him as touting the benefits of this "economic engine." What's that? A Republican praising the stimulative effect of federal government spending? Sound a little hypocritical to you? Sen. Mark Pryor, who also attended, praised the work of former U.S. Rep. Vic Snyder on the project. Sen. John "Dr. No" Boozman was unable to attend, but sent a statement saying, "Investment in our state's infrastructure provides opportunities for Arkansas businesses, jobs for hardworking citizens and encourages economic growth and development." Boozman of course is another blithering hypocritical dick, well known for his scorn of Obama stimulus projects.

* SCHOOL BUS CONFIDENTIAL: Unsettling tale in the Maumelle Monitor of a belated report of sexual assault on a school bus taking Maumelle middle schools students home. Police are investigating based on scenes caught on a bus video camera.

* CHILD IN CARJACKING: Police are reporting the theft of a car from a service station with the driver's five-year-old inside the vehicle. UPDATE: Child has been found.
